Hello all, With the start of the construction holidays, the borders are expected to be very busy with very long delays. At 7:00 am today, the wait at the main crossing was up to 45 minutes and climbing. Last Saturday at 8:10 am, a group of us at waited 45 minutes at the small border crossing immediately EAST of the major 15 / 87 crossing. I believe it will be worse tomorrow. For those of us unwilling to take a chance getting delayed on what will prove to be a fantastic day in Lake Placid, I would highly recommend the Hemmingford crossing which is the next border crossing immediately WEST of the 15 / 87 one. Hemmingford is the border crossing we use on the LYON MOUNTAIN ride on CCB calendar. The Hemmingford crossing is one of the best kept secrets as far as entering the US goes, especially on these holiday weekends. It may be a 20 minute detour to leave the 15 and hook back onto the 87, but it can easily save you a one hour wait or more at the main crossing. The tiny St. Bernard -de- Lacolle crossing ( immediately EAST ) of the 15 / 87 is NOT recommended as it is one lane only and at last year's Plattsburg ride we waited 75 minutes there at this time. I strongly recommend Hemmingford, look forward to seeing you all tomorrow Gene |
